Digital marketing for a start-up company

Introducing a new service or product doesn't just require the product or service to be great. You also need to reach your target audience with your product or service so that they know it exists. This is mainly done through marketing and sales. In this blog post, we will go through the basics of digital marketing for those of you who have a company in a start-up stage and need to get started with your digital marketing. The parts that will be covered are:- Growth hacking- Feedback- Messaging- Stick out- Conversion- Optimization

Growth hacking

Growht hacking is a methodology that has received a lot of attention lately. Much as a result of the success stories that Facebook, Airbnb, Dropbox, Spotify, etc., can convey and where they used growth hacking. In its simplest form, growth hacking can be explained as agile testing many different ways to market and update a product or service and then measure the one that gives the best results. When you find a way that works better than the one previously used, you focus more on what works best. The basic idea is to achieve "rapid growth" which is often achieved through users/customers helping to spread the word or referring new users/customers to the product or service.Growth hacking is great for digital marketing and is often a cost-effective methodology where small tests are conducted before moving on to larger investments in the channels and marketing campaigns that work best.

Feedback

When you start digital marketing, it's a good idea to implement a process early on where you can continuously get feedback from website visitors, customers or other stakeholders. You always want to develop and improve your digital marketing results, so you need to know what it is that gets customers started or what they are missing. The best way to find out is to get feedback directly from the source. There are easy ways like setting up a pop-up survey on your website asking for feedback directly from visitors. But often you want further information and deeper feedback, and there's nothing like meeting potential customers or existing customers in person to make informed decisions about next steps. Not to be forgotten is measuring how visitors to your website are moving and doing the analysis from there. This allows you to get feedback without interacting with the visitor. Because not everyone wants or has the time to give you detailed feedback.

Message

It's not enough to have a great product/service, landing pages, tracking, etc. if you don't have a compelling message to convey. If you've seen Simon Sinek's Ted Talk or maybe even read his book, you'll have a good understanding of why the message is so important. He says it starts with the why. If you don't know that today, it can be a good place to start and then build the message you deliver based on that question.

Stick out

Several studies indicate that we are exposed to 1,000 to 5,000 pieces of ad-targeted content every day. So think about how you can stand out from the crowd and find something original to show and write about. When everything looks the same, it's easy to lose interest and your message gets lost in the crowd.

Conversion

One of the most important elements of a digital marketing strategy is conversions. How to optimize your website to convert as much as possible.Just like we talked about in the previous section of growth hacking, this is all about testing. Make sure to use A/B testing on landing pages, call-to-actions, etc. there are likely plenty of variables for you to change and optimize. Both in terms of the website, blog posts, ads etc. There are also a plethora of tools for you to use to make this process easier. Several inbound marketing tools have this feature as standard and make it easy to manage.

Optimization

It's been said before, but it can't be said too many times - optimise continuously.Optimisation never ends. To be successful in your digital marketing, you need to continually optimise everything you do.Make sure you use data as a starting point when optimising so that the changes you make are for the better. You can't expect to have the secret formula from day 1, it takes time to build your digital marketing machine.
