Headline that captures the reader

  • Choose a headline that's hard to resistYouwant your post to open, so the headline has to be interesting enough to make people want to click on it. Indicate that you are answering the question your readers are wondering about, the thing that keeps them up at night.Try to keep the headline as specific as possible so that it is clear what the reader will get out of the post.To find out what keeps your readers up at night, you need to do research. Go through common questions that customer service receives or that salespeople encounter out in the field.- Do your own survey of existing customers about what they want answers to.- Use tools like Buzzsumo to find out which articles are getting the most engagement and circulation on your topic. This is what people want to read more about, and these are the topics you should target your content marketing on.
  • Entice - don't give the answer straight awayAcommon mistake is that headlines give too much information and answer the whole question. You want to lure the reader in to read about the solution.Below is an example. For example, if you are writing about personal finance, a headline might look like this.- How to save money for retirement by creating a monthly budgetIn this case, the answer to the question is already given in the headline. Why would the reader then click through? If instead you write the headline like this:- How to save money for your pension when you live paycheck to paycheck. There you are specific about who it is aimed at and you invite them to read about your solution which is a monthly budget. A real click machine quite simply.
  • Steal with finesse Have you figured out what your readers are interested in and what keeps them awake at night but have trouble coming up with a headline yourself, according to point 1? The easiest way to get inspiration is to look at how others have done it. What has been successful and what works for a similar operator or perhaps an operator in another country.Do a twist and you have a perfect headline.

Introduction that confirms interest

Once you get the reader to open the post and start reading, it's important that they get started right away and that you get the reader hooked. The longer they read, the harder it is to interrupt.

  • In a nutshell.Open with a short paragraph that is easy to read through and that gives a quick overview of what is to come in the post, so that the reader gets started quickly and wants to move on in the text.
  • Give clues about the solutionGivea little taste that the solution is coming and that it is worth taking note of.
  • Think about who you're writing toWhenyou're doing content marketing and setting the tone for your blog post, it's important that it's targeted and written in a way that the reader will appreciate. Should it really be academic text or do your readers want a text that is a bit light and pleasant? Look at it from your reader's perspective, how would you like a blog post to be?

Get your message across in an easy way

If you've gotten to the point where you've set a really interesting headline and an introduction that confirms interest, now's the time to get the message across. To create a readership that wants to come back month after month and read more of what you have to share, it's all about exceeding expectations.

  • Be over-generousMany peopleare afraid to share openly in e.g. blog posts and guides with the reasoning that if all the information is already given, why should the reader buy the service/product you are selling? The reality is that if you do not share fully, the reader/potential customer will not get a good idea about your company and your product. Part of the strategy behind content marketing is also to provide enough value so that your reader gains confidence in you, and subsequently trusts what you say, do and sell.So don't hold back, be as generous with tips and information as you can.
  • Create art breaks in your blog postJustlike when you give a talk, it's important to have art breaks in your blog posts. This makes it feel less heavy to read and gives people the energy to go through an entire blog post.Make sure to create subheadings that break up the body text. Feel free to add graphics, images or video to keep your concentration.Using line breaks often also makes it easier for the reader to get through a blog post.
  • Shock the readerIn this day and age, when there's an enormous amount of content to choose from, it's important to stand out. You need to create an angle or a claim that stands out from the crowd. What are some models that are standard but can be looked at using new information or a different perspective? What do you know that most others don't?You don't need to add shocking information just because, but you need to genuinely try to help the reader.

An inspiring conclusion

Now we have come to the last part. Now you need to finish big and make the reader feel that the time spent reading the post has been worthwhile.

  • Inspire and motivate your readers. If you've presented lots of useful information, you now want them to get the full benefit of it. Be sure to inspire and motivate the reader to get started and start practicing the lessons learned.Give a little pep talk. We all know that's needed when you're about to venture into deep water and try something new.Be open and honest that it won't be easy, but it's not impossible and will hopefully lead to improvement.
  • Do not add new informationBy the timeyou get to the conclusion or summary, all the information should already have been presented and no new information should be added to the conclusion.Adding new information to the conclusion also creates a poorer experience for the reader. Imagine you are watching a movie and in the last 5 minutes a completely new character appears, which is just confusing for the reader.
